Grootfontein Country Estate (GCE) Home Owners Association (HOA) is a voluntary association. All board members volunteer their expertise without compensation. Their mission is to improve Grootfontein Country Estate residence’s quality of life by enforcing excellent management practices.
Below is just a few of the many responsibilities and successes of the HOA:
- The HOA installed the electric fence on the borders of the Estate. The fence is monitored through patrols by the security company, MonitorNET and a monitoring application linked to the directors’ cellular phones. The HOA is further responsible for maintaining and repairing the fence as and when required. The maintenance of the fence includes clearing vegetation and servicing components like the energisers and the radios. The fence is constantly vandalised and requires almost weekly repairs.
- They further take care of Estate aesthetics by mowing lawns, clearing rubble, cleaning the main road, and maintaining the entrance buildings and gardens.
- They assist residents with by-law enforcement by reporting and pursuing complaint cases with the City of Tshwane.
- They attend to social and welfare issues in the Estate.
- They work closely with the Neighbourhood Watch (another voluntary initiative) to establish a safer environment for residents.
- The HOA manages the Estate insurance and deals with any ad-hoc issues that may arise, for example, water crises.
For a nominal membership fee of R250 per plot per month, residents enable the HOA to maintain the quality of life currently enjoyed by all Grootfontein Country Estate residents.
