UPDATE AND FINALISATION: FIBRE ROLLOUT PROCESS

 Based on the survey that was made available to residents of GFCE, the following was found (working on percentages based on 300 residents. The survey represents only 23% of ):

  • During the 1st survey via email and messaging, only 4% of residents have
  • 70 out of the 300 residents took part in the latest survey e. only 23%.
  • Based on the 23% participation on the latest survey, the results were:
  • Do you want fibre
a. yes 90%
b maybe 7%
c no 3%
  • Preference: aerial poles/underground trenches
a. underground 67%
b. no preference 26%
c. aerial 6%
d as long as it’s not in their yards 1%
  • What must the HOA do
    1. let them install underground 30%
    2. no comment 24%
    3. let providers proceed as planned 24%
    4. small percentages of different opinions made up the last 22%, which include things like proceed with litigation, have them share infrastructure
  • We know that 2 of the 3 fibre providers indicated that they are not willing to share infrastructure (refer to correspondence on GFCE website from network providers).
  • As a result of our low HOA membership, we don’t have enough financial support and are not able to proceed with
  • We have conveyed the results as above in correspondence to all 3 fibre providers on 2 July
  • In this correspondence, we indicated that they may proceed with their installations but they need to engage with the property owners on an individual
  • We also indicated that we hold the right to litigate should we be instructed to do
  • Note must be taken that Openserve has indicated as per their correspondence on our GFCE website, that they intend to proceed with mid-block installations which means the installation of poles in the back of the

We have indicated that owners are against this form of installations and we can not give permission to do so.

Such permission must be obtained from EACH property owner on an individual basis.
