Summary of Fibre Rollout
The Home Owners Association (“HOA”) of Grootfontein Country Estates has been actively engaging with the several Fixed Network Operators (“FNO”) that has started with the instillations of fibre infrastructure within our estate.
We as the HOA as well as all residents of the estate are in favour of the installation of such infrastructure as this will greatly benefit most residents to have reliable fibre at our homes.
All residents have noticed the start of construction that originated in Sinovich Drive via trenching of the underground pipeline for the fibre. We as HOA started receiving several complaints when these FNO started moving south and north of Sinovich Drive into our side roads that the construction and or installation of infrastructure changed from trenching underground to overhead hanging poles.
The HOA had mammoth tasks in engaging with the 3 (Three) FNO separately as they are independent of each other and have no agreement to work in conjunction with each other or to share infrastructure. We tried to facilitate the same but could not obtain consensus from all the FNO’s.
Several telecom, teams and zoom meetings were then held in order to obtain some sort of working agreement between all parties. As you might recall we requested from residents their inputs and concerns in May 2021 concerning the installations. Those concerns were relayed to the FNO’s.
The current FNO’s are The Wireless Company, MetroFibre and Openserve and we attach their individual responses for your perusal.
